What options are out there for independent studying for the CCIFP?

There is a study guide available through CFMA, but I did the online review classes and then got "The Book" (Financial Management and Accounting for the Construction Industry). If you haven't seen "The Book" before, it is a FABULOUS resource whether you are taking the exam or not. I studied based on the percentage of area covered by the exam and my own experience. It wasn't easy, but I did get through the exam the first try.

It's been a while, but I used The Book, back issues of Building Profits and the AICPA Auditing and Accounting Guide. If you've done the CFMA course, the handout was really useful in narrowing down where to focus my attention.

It's a lot, but I used process to also take a look at our internal processes to make sure we were compliant and as efficient as possible. Sort of a two-for-one value to my time!

There is a great webinar from CFMA. It is a 4 part primer for the CCIFP test. It can be found at http://cfma.digitellinc.com/cfma/packages/5/view.
